Numerical Validation of a Pyroshock Test System and Application to Qualification Tests

Spacecraft are exposed to severe mechanical loads, i.e., shock during their journey orbit. Such loads usually develop due a separation event through the activation of pyrotechnic devices. They might be transmitted throughout entire structure and strongly influence service performance electronic components. Therefore, it is crucial study whether instruments can resist such harsh environment. However, vulnerability high cost equipment, experimental setups required designed calibrated with dummy which takes considerable time effort as well. In this context, current aims investigate potential explicit FE solution techniques mimic calibration tests. order realize this, various experiments conducted in metal-to-metal impact pyroshock test bench obtained Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) responses fitted finite element simulations, shows good agreement after sensitivity analysis. Then, simulations repeated device using parameters, numerical approach predict realistic response discussed.
